Railways Ministry Lauds First Woman Ticket Checker To Collect Rs 1 Crore Fine From Passengers

Thousands of people travel with the Indian Railways every day after booking a valid railway ticket. However, there are many who avoid taking tickets or break rules at the platforms and inside the train for which they are fined. Rosaline Arokia Mary, a chief ticket inspector of Southern Railway has created a record of collecting fines of over Rs 1 crore from passengers travelling without tickets.
The Railway Ministry has praised Mary for collecting fines of Rs 1.03 crore from non-ticketed travellers. Taking to microblogging site Twitter, the ministry wrote, "Showing resolute commitment to her duties, Smt. Rosaline Arokia Mary, CTI (Chief Ticket Inspector) of @GMSRailway, becomes the first woman on the ticket-checking staff of Indian Railways to collect fines of ₹ 1.03 crore from irregular/non-ticketed travellers."
