A 70-year-old woman has been struggling to get her old age pension in the Nabarangpur district of Odisha. She has been seen traveling barefoot on the road with a broken chair in order to collect her government-provided pension. According to the report, the said elderly person is very poor. Her older son is now working as migrant laborer in a different state. She is staying with her younger son's family because he makes his living grazing other people's cattle. The family has no land to plough and the family lives in a hut.
She had pension funds in her possession previously. But now that the system has changed, the money is being sent to her account online.
However, her left thumb impression (LTI) sometimes does not match the specimen, according to the bank authority, making it difficult to pay her pension.
Reportedly, because of this reason or some other reason, she has not accepted her pension throughout the previous four months.
However, for physical presence, she really wants to go to the bank. Be that as it may, the old woman is too weak and she couldn't stroll all alone. To use a chair as a walking stick, she needs one.
Once, she fell while on her way to the bank and was assisting herself with the broken chair. Consequently, she suffered an orthopaedic injury to one of her legs. From that point forward, she is encountering more trouble strolling. She has not, however, lost her patience. She is making every effort to be present in person at the bank to deposit her LTI in order to release the pension funds.
