Gandhi has been addressing rallies in the poll-bound Telangana wherein he has been attacking the ruling BRS as well as the BJP-led Union government. During one of his speeches, the Congress MP directed a query to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking about the non-disclosure of the caste census results. He made the statement during the 'Vijaya Bheri yatra'.
Earlier today, the Wayanad MP also expressed optimism about the Congress party's prospects saying, "A Congress wave is coming in Telangana like a tsunami. First, it will come in Telangana and next in Delhi."
He attacked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led government over alleged corruption in irrigation projects. He alleged that the BRS and BJP have a tacit understanding. He also said that BJP should be defeated in Delhi similarly BRS should be defeated in Telangana. He then urged the people to extend full support to the grand old party.
While talking about the caste census, he said that it is the country's most pressing issue and it is an "X-ray" that would shed light on the status of Dalits, tribals, and OBCs. He added that the caste census would also influence how the country's assets would be dispersed.
He accused both leaders of remaining silent over the issue of caste census. Further, he assured that it will conduct a caste census once Congress comes to power in the state. After winning elections in the national capital in 2024, a caste census will also be undertaken in the country.
