Telangana: Stray Dog Seen Carrying Severed Head Of Newborn, Hyderabad Police Searching For Torso

The police examine CCTV footage in and around the area to determine where the stray dog picked up the head

Hyderabad: A stray dog was seen carrying a newborn's severed head in its mouth at Sahara Estates Road in Vanasthalipuram, Hyderabad on Sunday.

M Karthik, a resident of LB Nagar, was sitting in a milk booth on Sahara Estates Road in Mansoorabad was shocked at the sight of the dog with the infant’s head.

Along with some of his friends, Karthik chased the stray dog, which left the head on the ground before running away. Karthik informed the police. The incident took place near Sahara Gate-1 under Vanasthalipuram police station.

Police seized the boy's head and rushed him to Osmania Hospital for post-mortem. Vanasthalipuram police said that a special team had been set up to probe the case. The police is in search of the torso of the infant. 

"It is possible that the infant may have died during a premature delivery and may have not been properly buried. The stray dog which smelled the infant probably bit the head off and carried it around," ACP K Purushotham Reddy said as quoted by The New Indian Express.

The police examine CCTV footage in and around the area to determine where the stray dog picked up the head. This could reveal which hospital disposed of the remains and whether or not there was any foul play.
