'Physical Classes Not Compulsory': Telangana HC Stays Govt's Order To Reopen Schools From September 1

Ahead of schools reopening in Telangana at least 3 schools in Hyderabad asked parents to sign a consent form which mentions that the school management doesn't take responsibility of student's health

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Tuesday stayed state government's order to reopen educational institutions from September 1 by a week and the court declared that the physical classes are not mandatory.

Further, the high court has asked the state government to reopen the schools across the state by October 4. Before that, the court has directed the state government to file a detailed report on measures taken ahead of reopening of schools.
 
"No student should be compelled to attend physical classes from September 1 as it is not mandatory amidst pandemic," said Telangana HC.
 
A PIL was filed according to Times of India, ahead of the schools reopen for Kindergarten to Class XII students across the state and the petitioner wanted the court to cease the schools to reopen as the specualtions rife about third wave hitting in October.
 
According to a report in The Print, ahead of schools reopening in Telangana at least three schools in Hyderabad asked parents to sign a consent form which mentions that the school management doesn't take responsibility of student's health.
 
Before the stay on government order to reopen schools in Telangana was stayed, school headmasters were directed to prepare a customised seating plan as per classroom size to follow social distancing.
