Telangana: IT Firm Genpact To Set Up Tech Centre In Warangal
International IT company Genpact has expressed willingness to launch its operations in Warangal. A delegation of Genpact met Minister KTR on Thursday.
Hyderabad: With the Telangana government looking to expand the information technology sector to tier-II cities, it has roped in Global IT giant Genpact to set up a tech centre in Warangal.
Following a meeting with IT Minister KT Rama Rao at Pragati Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday, Genpact's leadership team made the announcement.
Genpact will begin operations with a headcount of 100 people very soon. Tech Mahendra, Mindtree, and Cyient are among the companies that have already opened campuses in Warangal.
Minister KTR said the TRS government has already set up IT towers in Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal L-1 and tier-2 cities, where various companies have started operations. He said the works of IT towers at Mahabubnagar, Nizamabad and Siddipet would be completed soon.

The minister expressed his delight at Genpact's decision to locate their technology centre in Warangal. He claimed that this investment will provide Warangal's IT sector with a big boost.
Tiger Thyagarajan, CEO of the company, said that the company already has operations in various parts of Hyderabad city. The Warangal campus is just an hour and a half away from the large-scale Pocharam campus, which is coming up.
He also said Warangal has a solid academic ecosystem, including NIT Warangal and plenty of tier-II engineering colleges from which they may recruit a large number of qualified candidates for their tech centre.
He hoped that the city of Warangal would become a key tech hub for his company in the future. The company has over 1 lakh employees in different countries.
