Telangana Governor Orders Report On Question Paper Leak During Assistant Engineers Recruitment Exam

Telangana Governor ordered a detailed report from the Commission about the leak of the question paper for the exam held to fill the position of Assistant Engineer in several departments.

Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has ordered the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to provide a report within 48 hours regarding the recent leak of question papers during the Assistant Engineer recruitment exams for various departments. The governor has also directed TSPSC to suggest measures to prevent such incidents from occurring again in the future.

According to IANS, Hyderabad police have transferred the case of the question paper leak to the Central Crime Station's Special Investigation Team (SIT). Nine individuals who were arrested in connection with the leak were presented before a Hyderabad court, which sent them to judicial custody for 14 days.

TSPSC Chairman Janardhan Reddy has stated that they will seek legal advice on whether to cancel the exam or not. Reddy further added that the commission was betrayed by those it trusted, and five TSPSC employees involved in the case would be dismissed from service. The chairman clarified that one of the accused, TSPSC employee P. Praveen Kumar, had appeared in Group-I Prelims but did not secure the highest marks as alleged.

Janardhan Reddy appealed to people not to believe rumours being spread on social media. He clarified that none of his children appear for Group-I exams conducted by the Commission. He was responding to allegations that the Group-I exam paper was also leaked to help his children who wrote the exam.

The commission had filed a complaint with the police after officials discovered that someone had hacked into the computer system where the question papers were stored. The accused allegedly copied folders containing question papers for various exams from computers in the confidential section.

The TSPSC has already postponed the recruitment exams for town planning building overseer, which were scheduled for March 12, and veterinary assistant surgeon exams, which were scheduled for March 15 and 16.
