Telangana: Eight Maoists Arrested During Combat Operation In Tippapuram Forest Area
In a statement, Bandrachalam ASP Paritosh Pankaj said, Members of the Maoist Pamed Area Committee's Kanchala Rasapalli RPC Militia Committee were detained.
Eight members of banned Maoist group were arrested on August 2. The arrest was made during combing operation conducted by police in Tippapuram forest area. According to ANI, “Telangana | Eight people belonging to a banned Maoist group were arrested on August 2 following a combing operation conducted by police in Tippapuram forest area of Charla mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district.”

In July, they and other Maoists buried a 12 kg landmine beneath a BT road connecting Gorukonda and Chennapuram villages in Cherla mandal, as per a report on Telangana Today.

Earlier, two Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire in the same region. In May, at least two Maoists were killed in exchange of fire with police in the Telangana district of Bhadradri-Kothagudem, which borders Chhattisgarh. According to the police, special police parties were combing the region after receiving reliable information that a team of the banned outfit CPI (Maoist) was moving in the Puttapadu forests with the intent of attacking them, when the ultras shot at police officers, according to news agency PTI.
One of the deceased was identified as Cherla LOS commander Rajesh. The police seized weapons including one SLR (Self-Loading Rifle) and other items from the scene and other combing operations are still underway. Meanwhile, 10 police personnel and a goods van driver were killed in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada on April 26. The area is around 450 km from the state capital Raipur.
