The Telangana CM handed over the cheques to the families of two martyred soldiers in the presence of Soren

Hyderabad: In a bid to provide financial assistance, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, along with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, visited the houses of the soldiers martyred in the Galwan Valley and handed over cheques of Rs 10 lakh to their families in Ranchi on Friday.

The Telangana CM handed over the cheques to the families of two martyred soldiers in the presence of Soren. He was also accompanied by Chief Secretary to Government Somesh Kumar, State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Vinod Kumar, Minister Srinivas Goud, MP Santosh Kumar and MLC Kavita.

Notably, on June 15, 2020, twenty Indian soldiers were killed in a brutal clash in the Galwan Valley as the Chinese forces sought to change the status quo unilaterally.

The Telangana government extended support to Colonel Santosh who hailed from the southern state and was martyred in the conflict.

Earlier, Telangana CM KCR had announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the families of soldiers killed in the attack. He declared that he would stand by the families of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Two of the 19 martyred soldiers hailed from Jharkhand. CM KCR himself handed over the cheques to the bereaved families in Ranchi on Friday.

It is to be noted that KCR met Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren on Friday afternoon, and the meeting was attended by KCR's wife Shobha Rao and other leaders. It is also learned that the Chief Ministers discussed the current situation in the country and future politics in the meeting.

Prior to the meeting, CM KCR paid his tributes to Birsa Munda, a tribal activist from Ranchi. He lauded the services rendered by Birsa Munda to the tribal community and the country.
