Telangana: Active Covid Cases Breach 20,000 Mark First Time Since Second Wave

Hyderabad: Telangana now has 20,462 Covid-19 active cases, which take the total number of cases in the state to 7,02,801. On Thursday, the state reported 2,707 cases of Covid-19, with 84,280 tests done.
As many as 582 people recovered on the day.
Even though vaccination numbers are encouraging, with 5 crore doses administered until Thursday, the active caseload is growing at a significantly high rate in Telangana.
At 20,462, the number of active cases in the state has surpassed 20,000 for the first time since the second wave.

Health Minister Harish Rao said Telangana has administered 5 crore doses of Covid vaccines so far, with 1 crore people getting their shots in last 35 days alone. As of Thursday, the state had administered 2.93 crore first doses, 2.06 crore second doses, and 1.13 lakh precautionary doses. In the 15-17 years caregory introduced this year, 8.67 lakh doses (47%) have been administered.
The first dose target has exceeded by about 103 per cent, Harish Rao said.
He congratulated the panchayat, municipal and medical staff who are constantly working to achieve vaccination targets. He said Telangana had already set a record as the first large state to complete 100 per cent of the first dose of vaccination.
The government has advised everyone to get their two doses of vaccine, wear mask as a duty, and wash hands frequently.
