Secunderabad Cantonment Road Closure: Army, Civic Body To Inspect Issue As KTR Holds Meeting With Officials

During the meeting, the GOC from Dakshin Bharat Area has assured that they would extend their support to the state government in terms of developmental aspects

New Delhi: After a long and dramatic fight against the Local Military Authorities (LMA), the residents of Secunderabad can now get a sigh of relief as the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao held a crucial meeting with Army officials including General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Dakshin Bharat Area, Lt Gen A Arun, where the Army officials assured the minister that the LMA would cooperate with the state government.

MA&UD Minister KTR held a review meeting with the senior Army officials from Secunderabad and during the meeting, the minister discussed various issues including long-pending road closure issues pertaining to the surroundings of the Secunderabad Cantonment area. Besides GOC from Dakshin Bharat Area, Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and other senior officials were present at the meeting.

Army along with the officials of GHMC to inspect the road closure issue at the Cantonment area. According to a press release, the primary issues discussed at the meeting were road closure in Cantonment, widening of Balkapur canal that flows through from the midst of Army area, construction of skyway at Mehdipatnam and development of link road passing through Golconda Golf Course, said a Telangana Today report.

In the meeting, the minister said, despite approaching Union Defence Ministry and discussing about the developments the state government aims to do in the Army areas, there is no positive response from them, the report mentioned. During the meeting, the GOC from Dakshin Bharat Area has assured that they would extend their support to the state government in terms of developmental aspects in the people's welfare interest in the state.

The meeting was concluded as Minister KTR thanked the Army officials and have reiterated how the state government has honoured the Army officials.
