'Raj Bhavan Nearer Than Delhi': Telangana Governor Tamilisai After Chief Secy Fails To Meet Her

Tamilisai Soundarajan highlighted that the chief secretary A. Santhi Kumari didn't even meet her for a courtesy call after assuming the charge of CS.

A day after the Telangana government moved the Supreme Court seeking to direct Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to give assent to government bills that were pending with her, Tamilisai Soundarajan highlighted that the chief secretary A. Santhi Kumari didn't even meet her for a courtesy call after assuming the charge of Chief-Secretary (CS).

Governor told Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari that Raj Bhavan is nearer than Delhi.

Governor Tamilisai tweeted, “Dear Telangana CS, Rajbhavan is nearer than Delhi. Assuming office as CS you didn't find time to visit Raj Bhavan officially. No protocol! No courtesy even for courtesy calls. Friendly official visits & interactions would have been more helpful which you Don't even intend.”

"Again I remind you Rajbhavan is nearer than Delhi," she added.

In a writ petition, the state informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that 10 bills are still pending at the Raj Bhavan. Three bills were forwarded to the governor last month for her approval, whereas seven bills have been pending since September 2022.

In the petition, the State government said that Bills like Common Recruitment Board Bill, Motor Vehicle Tax Bill, Private Universities Bill, and Agriculture University Amendment Bill are pending with the Governor. A Bill to upgrade a forest college and research institute in Mulugu to a forest university, the Azamabad Industrial Area Bill, and some other Bills are also awaiting Governor's approval.

The Union Law Ministry and Secretary to the Governor have been made respondents in the case.
