Karnataka Polls: BRS MLC Kavitha Urges People To Reject Hatred, Vote For Development

Kavitha Tweeted" Dear Karnataka, Reject Hatred! Vote for development , prosperity & well-being of the society and the people."

Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) K Kavitha urged the people of Karnataka to reject hatred and prioritize development and the well-being of society. In a tweet, Kavitha wrote, "Dear Karnataka, Reject Hatred! Vote for development, prosperity & well-being of the society and the people."

The state of Karnataka is currently engaged in the process of electing a new government, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) facing a challenge from the Congress party. The Janata Dal (Secular) is also a significant player in the contest. The results of the election are scheduled to be declared on May 13. The election campaign concluded on Monday, May 8.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also encouraged the people of Karnataka, particularly young and first-time voters, to participate in large numbers and contribute to the democratic process. In a tweet, PM Modi stated, "Urging the people of Karnataka, particularly young and first-time voters to vote in large numbers and enrich the festival of democracy."

As the elections unfold, polling is currently underway across Karnataka to determine the composition of the 224-member legislative assembly. Voters are actively exercising their franchise in their respective constituencies. According to official data from the Election Commission, a voter turnout of 8.26 per cent was recorded until 9 AM.

A total of 2,615 candidates are in the fray for the elections. The state of Karnataka is divided into six regions, namely Bengaluru, Central, Coastal, Hyderabad-Karnataka, Mumbai-Karnataka, and Southern Karnataka (Old Mysore region). The regions of Mumbai-Karnataka and Southern Karnataka, with 50 and 51 Assembly seats respectively, are the largest in the state.
