IMD Issues Red Alert As Heavy Rains Predicted In Telangana For Next 24 Hours
The Hyderabad Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain at isolated places in Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Janagaon districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for some districts in Telangana as heavy rains are predicted for the next 24 hours. The Hyderabad Meteorological Department has also forecast heavy to very heavy rain, accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, likely to occur at isolated places in Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Janagaon districts of Telangana.

The IMD has further predicted rains in the Telangana state over the next four days. During this period, heavy to very heavy rain is expected at isolated places in Karimnagar, Peddapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Siddipet, and Kamareddy districts. Additionally, heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, and Medak districts of Telangana.

The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has reported a cyclonic circulation present over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Odisha. This circulation extends up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level and tilts southwards as it gains altitude. As a result of this weather system, a low-pressure area is likely to form in the northwest Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.
On Tuesday, moderate to heavy rainfall persisted in various parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad. The heavy downpour resulted in flooding in low-lying areas in the state capital and caused disruptions to vehicular traffic.
The monsoon has been active over Telangana, leading to significant rainfall in several districts. Most places in Mulugu experienced heavy rainfall, while a few places in Hanamkonda and Karimnagar also received substantial precipitation. Additionally, isolated places in J. Bhupalpally, Nizamabad, and Rajanna Sircilla districts witnessed heavy rainfall.
