Hyderabad: Over 1,600 Acres Of Land In Manikonda Jagir Belongs To Telangana Govt, Rules Supreme Court

The land dispute between the state government and the Waqf board was there for nine years in which Telangana government had the last laugh

Hyderabad: In a major relief to the Telangana government, the Supreme Court ruled that the 1654.32 acres of Manikonda Jagir land belonged to the state government. This SC ruling has marked the end of a 9-year-long land dispute case. With this, the government got lands worth thousands of crores of rupees.

The land dispute between the state government and the Waqf board was there for nine years in which Telangana government had the last laugh. The waqf board has petitioned the court, claiming ownership of 1,654 acres and 32 pits belonging to Hazrat Hussain Shah Vali's Dargah.

There have been several arguments between the Waqf board and the state government in the Andhra Pradesh High Court in this regard before the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. However, on April 3, 2012, the High Court ruled in favour of the Waqf Board. Later, the Telangana government has approached the Supreme Court challenging the High Court's verdict.

Setting aside the High Court judgment, Supreme Court Justices Hemant Gupta and Rama Subramanian delivered a 156-page judgment that the Telangana government has all the rights over the entire land.

The verdict, which came after a nine-year-long trial, granted relief to several companies and individuals, including the Telangana government and the then government during the joint state, which had allotted lands through APIIC through Lanco Hills, Janachaitanya Housing Pvt Ltd, TNGOs Housing Society and ISB.

CM K Chandrashekar Rao expressed happiness over the Supreme Court's verdict in the Manikonda Jagir lands issue. He congratulated the lawyers and government officials who worked for it.
