Telangana: Toddler Crushed To Death By School Bus In Hyderabad

The police said, the family was from Kerala and was residing in Street No 8 of Habsiguda for the past four years.

A two-year-old girl lost her life after being crushed by a school bus in Hyderabad on Thursday. The incident occurred as the toddler accompanied her father and grandmother to see off her elder brother, who was heading to school, at Ravindra Nagar in the Habsiguda area under the limits of the Osmania University police station.

According to the police, while the victim's elder brother Midhun and the father were discussing their upcoming travel plans to Kerala with the bus driver and not wanting a ride to school for next week, the victim Jewalanna, accompanied by her grandmother, suddenly started running towards her father. Unfortunately, at that very moment, the bus driver started the vehicle and moved a little. In the impact, Jewalanna fell and became trapped under the bus wheel, as reported by IANS.

The incident took place at 8.10 AM on Thursday. The police took the body of the young victim to Gandhi Hospital.

The police said that the mishap took place since the driver without noticing the child started to drive the bus. As a result, the girl fell underneath the vehicle leading to her demise. Further, the police said, the family was from Kerala and was residing in Street No 8 of Habsiguda for the past four years.

The bus driver based on the complaint by the family was booked under Section 304A (negligence causing death) of IPC. He was then taken into custody, according to a report on Times of India.

The bus helper was also booked for failing to alert the driver about the girl.

However, the family members and locals took to a protest near the school premises in Habsiguda. They demanded the police to take strict action against the offender.

Earlier, a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter of an Army jawan died in a mishap in Jawaharnagar. The victim Bavisha who came out with her mother to send her older brother off to the school was run over by the school bus.
