BJP’s Tarun Chugh Demands CBI Investigation Into Projects Executed By BRS Govt In Telangana

Chugh claimed that reports are indicating that funds amounting to Rs 4,144 crore from the Central government's special assistance scheme have been siphoned off through double accounting.

BJP national general secretary and State in-charge of Telangana Tarun Chugh on Sunday demanded a CBI inquiry into the financial irregularities in the execution of various projects by the Telangana State government. He alleged that the BRS government in Telangana has siphoned off funds by presenting executed projects under two different schemes in the Nizamabad district, news agency PTI reported.

Chugh stated that the BRS government assigned six projects to the Nizamabad district, with one project funded through a loan taken by the Road Development Corporation and the other project shown under the Central Special Assistance scheme of the Central government.

According to Chugh, one project has been completed, but the funds were sourced from two different channels, resulting in double accounting for that particular work.

Chugh claimed that reports are indicating that funds amounting to Rs 4,144 crore from the Central government's special assistance scheme have been siphoned off through double accounting. He alleged that a significant number of works listed as executed under this project utilized funds from the loan received by the Road Development Corporation.

"I demand a CBI inquiry into all the projects, including various road works executed by the Telangana government during the last nine years under Central Special Assistance and loans received by the Road Development Corporation of Telangana," Chugh said in the statement.

The BJP leader termed the state government as the most corrupt government in the whole country. The method chosen by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s government to cheat the central government by siphoning off funds is shocking as to how the government is showing an executed work under different heads thereby promoting the fraud.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address a public meeting in Khammam on July 29, as part of the plan to have top Central leaders visiting Telangana to enthuse the party’s rank and file as a run up to the Legislative Assembly elections later this year.

Earlier, BJP Rajya Sabha member K Laxman announced that the party would reach out to people with a 100-day plan. The objective will be to remove the "corrupt" government led by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and bring BJP to power, PTI quoted Laxman as saying.

Laxman said that the party would stage large-scale protests and personally meet 30,000 "opinion makers" across the state who are concerned about the public interest.

The BJP has announced its plan to travel to all 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Telangana. These constituencies collectively cover the 119 Assembly segments in the state. The party aims to address public meetings as part of its campaign, promoting the message of "vote BJP to get rid of corrupt KCR family rule".
