X, formerly Twitter, has introduced support for passwordless passkey log-ins on iPhones and iPads, giving users the ability to access this security feature irrespective of their "Premium" status. Generating a passkey for the micro-blogging platform woild lets users bypass password entry needed during logins and instead leverage the device's security features, such as Face ID, or the device's passcode and Touch ID.

X made the announcement via a post: "Today we’re excited to launch Passkeys as a login option for our US-based users on iOS! A passkey is a new, easy to use, and secure way to log in to your account - all from your device. Passkeys are more secure than traditional passwords since they’re individually generated by your device for each account. Learn more at https://help.twitter.com/en/managing-your-account/how-to-use-passkey. Let us know what you think!."
Currently, passkey log-ins are limited to the US, and X has not disclosed the timeline for introducing this login technology for Android users, desktop OS, or in other countries. Additionally, the rollout of passkeys by X appears to be ongoing, with some users reporting a lack of access as of Tuesday night on the East Coast. What Are Passkeys
Passkeys are a new easy-to-use way to sign in to apps and websites, offering a safe and convenient alternative to passwords. Unlike passwords, they cannot be written down or guessed, helping to prevent the accidental sharing of a passkey via a bad or threat actor. When a customer uses a passkey on their device, it proves they have their device and are able to unlock it. Customers no longer need to worry about remembering unique passwords or using easy-to-guess identifiers, like names or birthdays.
