Zomato UPI Payments Now In India


In a bid to make payments easy for customers, online food delivery platform Zomato has launched its own unified payments interface (UPI) services in India. Zomato has joined hands with ICICI Bank for making UPI payments from the platform, media reports say.


According to Zomato, the introduction of UPI payment method is a safe way to complete transactions and to provide an additional layer of security, a user can add a security PIN to it. This development comes at a time when merchant payments on UPI in India are projected to hit $1 trillion by FY26. With the launch of Zomato UPI, the online food delivery platform intends to make it easier for users to make payments.

Instagram Suffers Outage


Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram is down for several users globally. According to outage detection site Downdetector, Instagram has been down for users since early morning with several users reporting encountering glitch while using Instagram Reels. Meta-owned Instagram has not acknowledged the issue so far, say media reports.

Asus Opens 3 Exclusive Stores In Bengaluru


In a bid to strengthen its retail footprint across the country, Taiwanese tech giant Asus on Thursday opened three exclusive stores in the southern Indian city of Bengaluru. The new exclusive stores will house an extensive range of electronics and computer hardware, including Asus flagship products such as VivoBook, ZenBook, Zenbook-Flip, Republic of Gamers (ROG) laptops and accessories.

AWS To Invest Rs 1,05,600 Crore In India By 2030


Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud division of e-commerce giant Amazon, has announced its intention to invest Rs 1,05,600 crore ($12.7 billion) into cloud infrastructure in India by 2030. This investment aims to meet the country's increasing demand for cloud services and is projected to contribute Rs 1,94,700 crore ($23.3 billion) to India's GDP by 2030. The expansion of data centre infrastructure is expected to generate an average of 1,31,700 full-time equivalent jobs annually in Indian businesses, according to AWS.


Rajeev Chandrashekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, stated that the investment aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India vision, which has been instrumental in driving the growth of cloud and data centres in India. The minister welcomed AWS's investment and emphasized that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is actively working on a Cloud and Data Center Policy to foster innovation, sustainability, and growth in India's cloud industry.

Musk Could Not Have Given OpenAI $100 Million He Always Claimed


While tech billionaire Elon Musk, who is also the co-founder of OpenAI, the lab behind viral artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT openly expressed his disagreement with OpenAI since moving from its board in 2018, a new report has claimed that only around $15 million of donations can actually be traced back to the Tesla CEO. Musk also reduced his claim of $100 million donation to OpenAI, media reports say.
