JEE Mains 2024: AI Catches Impersonation Case In Noida By Doing This

The AI tech matched biometrics and found out that the person giving the exam was impersonating an actual JEE-Main candidate.

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being widely accepted in our day-to-day lives. We are starting to rely more and more on AI with each day that passes, be it for writing a simple mail or generating a picture. Users are getting innovative with AI and are coming up with numerous uses of it which earlier people could not think of. Just like with everything else, AI can be used for both good as well as for bad purposes. What if someone told you that AI can be used to catch students who are cheating in exams?

All of us are aware of how prestigious IIT JEE exams are considered to be in India but sometimes such hype also leads to students indulging in wrong practices to qualify it. Recently, on the first day of Session 2 of Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-Main), around 10 cases of cheating were discovered. Nine cases were of unfair means and the remaining one took it to new heights by impersonating to be a candidate. Remote AI technology was used to catch the case of impersonation.

The AI tech matched biometrics and found out that the person giving the exam was impersonating an actual JEE-Main candidate. According to a report by the Times of India, the National Testing Agency (NTA) cautioned students against using unfair means and indulging in “mischievous collaborations.” According to NTA sources, the case of impersonation was found at a centre in Noida, UP.

The other nine cases of using unfair means were discovered in states like Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and others. Among these nine cases, some were about candidates smuggling in mobile phones, and passing of paper chits.
