Xiaomi 15 Leaks: Early Camera Samples Spotted On Weibo. Check Them Out

Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15 Pro, and Xiaomi 15 Ultra are expected to launch in China on October 29.

Xiaomi is preparing for a major release with its Xiaomi 15 series, bringing significant advancements in camera performance, battery power, and software. Ahead of the October 29 launch, Xiaomi offered a preview of its flagship models, the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro, by releasing camera samples to demonstrate the upgraded photography capabilities on Weibo, the popular Chinese microblogging platform.

The Xiaomi 15 Pro’s 50MP main and telephoto cameras represent a leap over its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14 Pro, particularly in telephoto zoom. Now equipped with a 5x optical zoom, the new telephoto setup surpasses the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s 3.2x zoom, providing a clearer, more detailed capture at longer distances. Both the main and telephoto lenses come with wide apertures of f/1.4 and f/2.5, respectively, promising excellent performance in varied lighting.

Xiaomi 15 Series Specifications (Expected)

In addition to hardware enhancements, Xiaomi has integrated its new AI-powered AISP 2.0 image processing technology across the series. The algorithm reduces processing time by a remarkable 82 per cent while enhancing clarity and overall image quality. Xiaomi highlighted this feature by sharing photos taken with the 3.2x telephoto lens on the standard Xiaomi 15, with one shot showing a detailed crop at 5x zoom. This blend of advanced hardware and intelligent software signals Xiaomi’s intent to compete in high-end mobile photography.

Xiaomi’s October 29 event will showcase three models: the Xiaomi 15, 15 Pro, and 15 Ultra. While the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro will be fully unveiled, the much-anticipated Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set for a delayed debut in early 2025. However, a series of leaked images have already revealed the Ultra’s striking design, featuring a circular camera module with four lenses and prominent Leica branding. This bold look, with its unconventional lens placement, has sparked a mixed reaction from fans, with some praising the innovation and others finding the asymmetry unusual.

Spec-wise, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumoured to pack cutting-edge technology. It’s expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which promises smooth performance even under demanding tasks, and features a 6,000mAh battery. The phone is expected to support rapid 90W wired and 80W wireless charging, making it one of the fastest-charging devices in its class. Additionally, it will run on Xiaomi’s new HyperOS 2, built on Android 15, offering a fresh user experience with improved HDR support, making it a well-rounded device for multimedia.

As Xiaomi continues to innovate, the 15 series positions itself as a formidable competitor in the premium smartphone market. With high-quality camera systems, robust battery life, and cutting-edge processing power, Xiaomi is aiming to attract photography enthusiasts and power users alike with its latest flagship lineup.
