Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Upcoming Mid-Ranger Goes Head-To-Head Against Predecessor. Here's Who Won

Vivo V50 Pro is expected to launch in the second half of February. Ahead of that, let's see how it stacks up against the V40 Pro.

Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Vivo is gearing up to release its latest smartphone, the Vivo V50 Pro 5G, which promises significant upgrades over the existing Vivo V40 5G (8GB RAM + 256GB). With tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting its launch, here’s a detailed look at how the two models stack up against each other.

All specs for Vivo V50 Pro are based on tips and leaks. Readers are advised to consider this report with a pitch of salt.

Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Battery and Performance

The Vivo V50 Pro 5G packs a larger 5700mAh battery compared to the 5500mAh battery found in the Vivo V40 5G. Both models feature non-removable Li-Po batteries, but the newer version supports 100W FlashCharge technology, which promises faster charging times compared to the 80W FlashCharge of the V40.

Under the hood, the V50 Pro is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 9300 chipset, clocked at 3.25 GHz, while the V40 5G features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, running at 2.63 GHz. This makes the V50 Pro better suited for heavy tasks and resource-intensive apps.

Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Display and Design

Both phones boast AMOLED displays with 1 billion colours and a resolution of 1260x2800 pixels. The V50 Pro, however, offers a slightly larger 6.8-inch screen with a smoother 144Hz refresh rate, compared to the V40’s 6.78-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The newer model also achieves a higher screen-to-body ratio of 93.3%, offering a more immersive viewing experience.

Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Camera Capabilities

The camera setup is where the Vivo V50 Pro truly shines. It houses a versatile triple-lens configuration with three 50MP cameras — main, telephoto, and wide-angle — enabling high-quality shots in diverse settings. The V40 5G also features a 50MP wide-angle primary camera, complemented by a 50MP ultra-wide sensor. Both models support 4K video recording at 30fps, but the V50 Pro boasts additional creative modes like Supermoon and Astro photography.

Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Operating System and Connectivity

Out of the box, the Vivo V50 Pro runs on Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15, whereas the V40 operates on Android 14 with Funtouch OS 14. Connectivity options remain robust across both models, including support for 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB-C.

Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Additional Features

The V50 Pro includes IP69 water and dust resistance, surpassing the V40’s IP68 rating. Both devices are equipped with in-display fingerprint sensors and face unlock features, along with GPS navigation options including NavIC and Galileo.

Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Pricing and Availability

The Vivo V40 5G (8GB RAM + 256GB) is currently priced at Rs 36,999.

While the official price of the V50 Pro 5G has not yet been disclosed, it is expected to launch in India in the second half of February.

Vivo V50 Pro Vs Vivo V40 Pro: Which One Suits You Best?

If you're in the market for a feature-packed smartphone, the Vivo V50 Pro 5G looks poised to deliver a superior user experience, thanks to its enhanced battery, faster charging, improved camera system, and upgraded display.

However, with the Vivo V40 5G offering solid performance at a competitive price, budget-conscious buyers still have a compelling option.
