iPhones Running On iOS 18 To Soon Support Truecaller ID Feature More Efficiently: CEO Alan Mamedi

Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi said, “Even though it has worked fairly OK in the last 2 years, this time it will be just like you would expect Truecaller work, end to end.”

Apple iOS 18 users will soon be able to use Truecaller's free-to-use caller ID service, which Android users have been enjoying for years. Truecaller, the free-to-use caller ID service used by millions worldwide, will soon work as intended on iPhones. The app has been available on Apple devices for some time, but its integration hasn't been as seamless as on Android phones. On iOS, Truecaller lacks real-time caller ID, meaning users have to manually open the app to identify incoming calls. However, with the release of iOS 18, Apple’s new API could allow an overlay on the call screen, potentially addressing this limitation.

The iPhone maker has recently updated the iOS 18 feature release documentation as per which the “new APIs allow developers like Truecaller to fetch information from their servers and provide live caller ID for incoming calls, in a privacy-preserving way.”

Truecaller's Journey

The CEO of Truecaller, Alan Mamedi, posted on X to share the news and said that “even though it has worked fairly OK in the last 2 years, this time it will be just like you would expect Truecaller work, end to end.”

The co-founder of the company, Nami Zarringhalam also tweeted and said, “It’s been 9 years of grinding, and some amount of loss of faith in between at times. But soon everyone will be able to experience a smartphone the way we always knew they could, safe and trustworthy.”

Truecaller launched a web client earlier this year, enabling users to look up unknown numbers and receive real-time call alert notifications. The company has also embraced the AI trend, introducing a new tool designed to detect and block spam calls.
