Sony WF-1000XM5 TWS Buds Launched: Colours, Specs, Price, More

The Sony WF-1000XM5 goes against the likes of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3, the Apple AirPods Pro, and the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, among others.

Japanese tech giant Sony on Wednesday launched its flagship True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds in India, days after teasing the product. The Sony WF-1000XM5 TWS earbuds succeed Sony WF-1000XM4. The Sony WF-1000XM5 features three microphones on each earbud, including dual feedback microphones, which improve low-frequency cancellation performance. The company has developed an Integrated Processor V2 that promises to unlock the potential of the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN2e.

Sony WF-1000XM5 India Price, Features And Specs

The price of the Sony WF-1000XM5 in India has been set at Rs 24,990 and it will become available starting October 18 in two colourways: black and platinum silver. At this price point, the Sony WF-1000XM5 goes against the likes of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3, the Apple AirPods Pro, and Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, among others.

Sony India also announced a special pre-booking offer for WF-1000XM5 on Wednesday where prospective buyers can pre-book the TWS buds at a price of Rs 21,990, including cashback worth Rs 3,000. The company is also bundling a Sony SRS-XB100 portable speaker worth Rs 4,990 under the pre-book offer. The pre-booking begins today (September 27) and runs through October 15 across all online and brick-and-mortar channels such as Sony Center, electronic stores and e-commerce portals in India.

In terms of battery and charging, the buds offer up to 8 hours of battery life and a 3-minute charge is said to provide up to 60 minutes of playtime. With the Qi technology, the Sony WF-1000XM5 gets wireless charging too.

The WF-1000XM5 features three microphones on each earbud and is powered by the Sony V2 and QN2e chips. The earbuds are claimed to deliver unprecedented noise-cancelling sound that can be adapted to provide the "best performance" for your environment. The Sony WF-1000XM5 TWS buds also come with 24-bit audio processing and high-performance analogue amplification for low distortion. The ability to reproduce lower frequencies has also been improved on the WF-1000XM5, courtesy of the new Dynamic Driver X. The Noise Isolation earbud tips feature a unique polyurethane foam material that claims to cut noise in the high-frequency range.

The flagship WF-1000XM5 earbuds also come with "head tracking" technology which claims to offer a realistic and compelling listening experience by automatically adjusting sound fields to compensate for your head movement. Sounds are precisely aligned with your smartphone screen, even as you move, to completely involve you in your viewing by connecting to compatible smartphones or services.
