Sony PlayStation 5 Pro Specifications Leaked: Likely To Feature 16GB RAM & RDNA Graphics
The PS5 Pro will launch in select markets on November 7 at a price of $699.99 (roughly Rs 58,750).
In September, Sony unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, following a wave of leaks that hinted at the enhancements to come. Set to hit shelves in select markets on November 7, the PS5 Pro promises exciting upgrades, although Sony has yet to disclose the full hardware specifications. However, it appears that details about the console’s specs have now surfaced ahead of its official launch.
PS5 Pro: Specifications (Expected)
Over the weekend, purported specifications for the PlayStation 5 Pro emerged online, shedding light on the console's hardware. This spec sheet, written in Portuguese, appears to have leaked following early shipments of the PS5 Pro to customers in certain international markets. According to the leaked information, the PS5 Pro retains the same 8-core, 16-thread AMD Ryzen Zen 2 CPU found in the original PS5. However, it boasts enhanced RDNA graphics, delivering 16.7 teraflops compared to the 10.28 teraflops offered by the PS5's GPU.
The PS5 Pro is equipped with enhanced ray-tracing capabilities along with a new AI upscaling feature called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).
Additionally, the leak indicates that the PS5 Pro is equipped with 16GB of dedicated GDDR6 VRAM, alongside 2GB of DDR5 RAM for system operations. This represents an improvement over the PS5, which utilises a unified memory system with 16GB shared between the CPU and GPU.
As previously confirmed by Sony, the spec sheet reveals that the PS5 Pro features double the storage of its predecessor, equipped with a 2TB custom SSD. Other details, also validated by Sony, include Wi-Fi 7 support for faster download speeds. The console maintains the same port configuration as the PS5, featuring two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, Ethernet and HDMI ports, and an expandable M.2 SSD storage slot.
PS5 Pro: Design (Expected)
The purported spec sheet also discloses the precise dimensions of the PS5 Pro. When Sony announced the console, they mentioned that it would be the same height as the original PS5 but slightly taller than the PS5 Slim. However, the new model will match the width of the current digital edition PS5 Slim. According to the leak, the PlayStation 5 Pro measures approximately 388 x 89 x 216 mm and weighs 3.1 kg. It’s important to note that these dimensions apply to the console alone, excluding the optional external disc drive that can be purchased separately.
While these specs align with previous leaks and some details confirmed by Sony, the company has yet to provide comprehensive specifications for the new console. According to the PlayStation parent company, the PS5 Pro features 67 per cent more Compute Units than the standard PS5 and boasts 28 per cent faster memory. These enhancements are said to allow for up to 45 per cent faster rendering during gameplay on the new console, as claimed by Sony.
