Sony Is Secretly Cooking Up PS5 Pro, Specifications Leaked: Report

According to the leaks, PS5 Pro will be 3 times more powerful than the current PS5 models that are available in the market.

PlayStation fans are eagerly awaiting the next-gen upgrade for the PS5 and we are here with the latest scoop for now. If the leaks that are doing rounds in the market are true then the PS5 Pro might turn out to be a beast. As per reports from reputable sources, Sony has silently been cooking up an advanced version of the PS5 which goes by the codename 'Trinity'. The specifications that got spilt suggest that the console will pack a GPU that’s potentially up to three times more powerful than the current PS5 models.

According to an alleged leaked document acquired by YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead, the console boasts an impressive 67 teraflops of 16-bit floating point processing power, which equates to approximately 33.5 teraflops of single-precision compute power. To provide context, the standard PS5 offers a more modest 10.28 teraflops, reported Indian Express.

However, that's not the only noteworthy aspect. Rumors suggest that the PS5 Pro will also offer up to three times the ray tracing performance of the base PS5, and in certain scenarios, even quadruple the ray tracing capability.

Sony's PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution

Sony is reportedly developing its own upscaling technology known as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), akin to NVIDIA's DLSS or AMD's FSR. This technology utilizes machine learning to enhance images, potentially achieving 8K resolution in future updates.

The fact that several insiders are providing consistent information adds credibility to these leaks. Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming has verified the authenticity of these leaks, further bolstering their legitimacy. If the reports are accurate, Sony's first-party studios have been actively testing PS5 Pro development kits since September last year, while third-party developers gained access to the hardware in January, Indian Express reported.

Despite the ambitious timeline rumoured for a November 2024 release, Sony's efforts could revolutionize the gaming landscape if they successfully deliver on these impressive specifications.
