Samsung Galaxy S25 Leaks: New Phones May Skip Premium Display, Opt For Cost-Cutting OLED Instead

Samsung could opt for OLED screens using M13 organic materials for the Galaxy S25 series, rather than the latest LTPO OLED panels.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Leaks: The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 series is set to launch in January, but a recent report suggests Samsung may skip its high-end OLED display for this flagship lineup. Rumours, leaked specifications, and design details have already made waves, but the latest leak hints at a potential compromise in display quality, likely as a cost-saving measure.

Display Changes for Samsung Galaxy S25

According to a report from Korean outlet ET News, Samsung could opt for OLED screens using M13 organic materials for the Galaxy S25 series, rather than the latest LTPO OLED panels. The M13 OLED tech, while effective, is considered a step behind the more advanced M14 material found in premium models like the iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro, known for superior brightness and extended durability.

This isn’t an entirely new development for Samsung, as similar M13 displays were used in the Galaxy S24 series. Yet the decision to stick with M13 materials has drawn attention, with Display Chain Supply Consultants CEO Ross Young lending credibility to the speculation, emphasizing that this may indeed be a cost-cutting decision. However, the exact reasons behind Samsung’s move to reduce costs remain unclear and may only surface closer to the series' official launch.

Galaxy S25 Series: Other Expected Features

Beyond the display, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to boast a range of enhancements. The models will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, promising significant upgrades in performance and AI capabilities. Design and camera improvements are also expected, particularly for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which could showcase more advanced photography and design features than its predecessor.

Leaks indicate display sizes across the range, with the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus reportedly featuring 6.16-inch and 6.66-inch screens, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra is anticipated to come with a larger 6.86-inch display.

As anticipation builds, fans will need to wait until early 2025 to see how these rumoured changes shape Samsung's latest flagship experience.
