Samsung Galaxy S22 FE And Galaxy S23 Series May Come With MediaTek Chipset In Asia

New Delhi: Samsung Galaxy S22 FE, the next iteration in Samsung Galaxy's Fan Edition line may break the tradition of carrying a Snapdragon chip and feature a MediaTek SoC instead. If that happens, the Galaxy S22 FE would become the first high-end model from the company to launch with a MediaTek processor. It is also being reported that the upcoming Galaxy S23 units sold in Asia may also ship with MediaTek SoC.
This would be the first time that Samsung would equip the high-end Galaxy S series models with MediaTek chips as till now the tech major has considered MediaTek's chipsets only for its Galaxy A series on a limited basis.
Samsung is considering installing MediaTek’s application processor (APs) in the Galaxy S22 Fan Edition (FE) models as well as the Galaxy S23, which will be rolled out in the second half of this year. It is expected to use MediaTek’s APs for about half of the Galaxy S22 FE smartphones and for the Galaxy S23 smartphones to be sold in Asia, according to a report published by Business Korea.
However, it is not clear if the South Korean handset maker will make use of Qualcomm Snapdragon, Exynos and MediaTek chipsets in three Galaxy S23 variants. If Samsung considers using only MediaTek and Snapdragon chipsets that would mean a setback for its proprietary Exynos processor line, the report added.
The Exynos chipsets have struggled to match Qualcomm Snapdragon's flagship chipsets when it comes to power and efficiency standards.
