Realme GT 2 Pro Will Be The Company's Most Premium Flagship Phone, Company Confirms

Handset maker Realme on Monday confirmed the name of its most premium flagship smartphone - the device will be called Realme GT 2 Pro.

New Delhi: Handset maker Realme on Monday confirmed the name of its most premium flagship smartphone - the device will be called Realme GT 2 Pro. This comes almost two weeks after the smartphone player announced its foray into the premium handsets category. Realme also made the announcement on its social media handles.

“As the first creation under Realme’s most premium flagship GT Pro series, the Realme GT 2 Pro bears our mission to bring top-tier experience to our young customers with performance, design and camera - all beyond expectations. We have always been cognizant of our consumers’ needs, and are working towards developing best-in-class smartphones for Realme fans across the globe,” Sky Li, Realme’s Founder and CEO, said in a statement.

Realme's foray into the high-end flagship smartphone market will see it compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S series, the Mi Ultra and the flagship OnePlus devices, among others.

Li had earlier mentioned that Realme will foray into the smartphone market above $800 which translates into the Rs 60,000 (and above) price segment. The company founder had also asked users on Twitter what features they expect from the smartphone OEM in this price category.

This will be a significant detour from the company's present strategy. Realme had taken off in India in May 2018 with a budget smartphone, the Realme 1 with 3GB RAM to compete head-on with Redmi. Currently, the Realme GT series is the most pricey lineup from the company, but with this announcement, we can expect Realme to launch phones that compete directly with the iPhone, Mi Ultra and Galaxy S series.

Realme Expanding Retail Footprint In India, Opens 200 Exclusive Stores

The company is also working towards expanding its mainline expansion across the country, Realme has opened 200 exclusive stores in India. The stores have become operational from November will enable users to experience all the latest Realme products.
