Qualcomm India has announced an upcoming event called "Snapdragon for India" set to take place on July 30 in Delhi.

Qualcomm India has announced an upcoming event called "Snapdragon for India" set to take place on July 30 in Delhi. The company's invitation hints at two significant announcements. The artwork on the media invitation for the event features several key elements, including AI, the Snapdragon logo, AI within a PC, 5G, and Wi-Fi.

These visual cues suggest that one of the announcements may involve the introduction of Snapdragon X Elite-powered 5G Copilot PCs in the Indian market. Additionally, there's speculation about the potential unveiling of more Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus PC models.

Recently Launched Snapdragon-Powered Laptops In India

Recently, various manufacturers have begun launching Snapdragon X Elite-powered laptops in India following their global debut. Notable examples include Asus's Vivobook S 15 AI PC and HP's EliteBook Ultra and OmniBook X AI PCs, which are now available for pre-order. Microsoft has also entered the market with its Surface Pro and Surface Laptop Copilot PCs.

While the first announcement is likely to focus on Copilot PCs, industry insiders speculate that the second revelation may pertain to the mobile sector.

The presence of 5G imagery on the invitation has led to speculation about a possible budget-friendly 5G smartphone from Jio, powered by a Snapdragon chip. This would not be unprecedented, as Reliance Jio previously collaborated with Qualcomm to launch the JioPhone Next 5G smartphone in 2021, which utilised the Snapdragon 215 Mobile Platform.

Furthermore, Jio formed a partnership with Google in 2022 to develop affordable 5G smartphones for the Indian market.

The upcoming "Snapdragon for India" event is a likely indication of Qualcomm's recognition of the vast potential within India's mobile technology sector. This event is generating significant buzz. Industry observers are speculating about the possibility of an affordable 5G chipset being unveiled at Snapdragon for India event. Such a development could accelerate the adoption of 5G technology among a broader segment of Indian consumers, potentially democratising access to high-speed mobile connectivity.
