Google Pixel Phones May Get Battery Cycle Count Feature Soon
The much-useful feature will be rolling out for Pixel users, suggests the Android 14 QPR1 (quarterly platform release) Beta that has been released, says a report by 9to5Google.
Google Pixel phones will soon start showing battery cycle counts, a feature also found in the newly launched Apple iPhone 15 series. The much-useful feature will be rolling out for Pixel users, suggests the Android 14 QPR1 (quarterly platform release) Beta that has been released, says a report by 9to5Google. The feature will hand Pixel owners a feature that Android has been lacking for years. The in-built battery cycle counts are likely to greatly help with the phone's battery lifespan.
The tech giant is likely to expand battery information shown in Android over time. It is going to be available for Pixel phones, to begin with. Whether or not this change will appear on all Android phones also remains to be seen, but it will at least appear on Pixels, the report added.

The 9to5Google report does not specify the Pixel model that is getting the battery cycle count feature. The Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 with the September 2023 security patch is available for the Pixel Fold, Pixel tablet, Pixel 7a, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6 and Pixel 5a.
The Google Pixel 8 series, meanwhile, will launch in India a day after the official launch on October 4 at the "Made by Google" event. Similar to the Pixel 7 series, the Pixel 8 lineup will be available on e-commerce platform Flipkart in India, which has been the retail partner for Pixel devices in the country.
Google officially teased the launch of the Pixel 8 lineup in India on X, formerly Twitter, earlier this month. The pricing and sale details of the flagship Pixel line are still not available.

"You know what they say, great things come in eights ♾ Get ready to meet the Google #Pixel8 and #Pixel8Pro. Pre-orders start 5th October exclusively on @Flipkart," Google India posted on Twitter.
A previous leak said that the Google Pixel 8 Pro would come with a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Like the Pixel 7 series, this device would also be powered by an in-house Google Tensor G3 chipset and a Titan chip. The Pixel 8 Pro model would house three cameras at the rear and offer 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
The Pixel 8 Pro could also have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor as well. Pixel 8 pro's rear camera would comprise three sensors: a 50MP main, a 64MP ultrawide and a 48MP telephoto. For selfies, there would be an 11MP camera.
Pixel 8 series is likely to get upgrades from its predecessors, in terms of fast charging and battery. The Pixel 8 lineup is said to come with bigger batteries and faster charging speeds than last year's Pixel 7 lineup. Even as wired charging is likely to get a bump, wireless charging on the purported Pixel 8 phones is expected to remain the same.
