Google Places Order Of Manufacturing Over 8 Million Pixel 7 Series Models Ahead Of Launch
Google has asked its suppliers to produce more than 8 million devices of the Pixel 7 lineup of smartphones.
Google has asked its suppliers to produce more than 8 million devices of the Pixel 7 lineup of smartphones, the media has reported. The tech giant is apparently anticipating an increase in demand for the Pixel 7 line that is set to be launched later today (October 6).
The company has requested more than 8 million units for its Pixel 7 range, sources familiar with the matter were quoted as saying in a report by Nikkei Asia. The tech giant has told several suppliers it roughly aims to double its smartphone sales for 2023 compared with this year, two people with direct knowledge of the matter added.
The US-based tech major's upbeat plans make it one of the few handset makers to continue to grow amid a significant economic slowdown. The global smartphone market shrank 11 per cent and 9 per cent year-on-year in the first and second quarters of 2022, according to market research company Canalys.
The tech giant has a lot of ground to cover when it comes to cementing its position in the global smartphone market and trade analysts have predicted some good responses to its upcoming Pixel 7 series that come with some top-of-the-line features.
The leaked renders of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro show that each device comes with an aluminum camera bar and the improved Tensor G2 chip. As far as the price is concerned, the prices of new devices are expected to stay the same as their predecessors.
Meanwhile, the company is set to unveil its new smartphones Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel Watch today (Thursday) at the "Made By Google" event that is slated to start at 10 am ET or 7:30 pm IST. It should be noted that the US-based tech giant had earlier in May teased a glimpse of the upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which are the successors to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, at its annual I/O event.
Google will unveil the Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7 and the Pixel Watch at an event in New York and it can be livestreamed via Google’s YouTube channel. This is what we know about the products that will be unveiled at the Made By Google event tonight.
