OnePlus V Fold With Hasselblad Camera Seen In New Renders. Know Everything

Famed tipster Ice Universe has shared information and a picture of the purported OnePlus V Fold on Twitter. He mentioned that the first foldable from OnePlus would be as capable as the Huawei Mate X3.

Seems like handset maker OnePlus is ready to foray into the foldable category of smartphones, to compete head-on with the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 which is expected to be unveiled next month in Seoul, South Korea. The OnePlus V Fold is likely to be unveiled in the coming months. OnePlus, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023, had confirmed that its first foldable phone would be launched in the second half of the year.

OnLeaks and SmartPrix have shared images of the OnePlus V Fold with a rear that has a centre-aligned camera module that has three camera units and a Hasselblad label.

"I'm here to leak some new information, Regarding the first Fold model of OnePlus, its comprehensive competitiveness is very strong, no less than that of Mate X3, especially in terms of sound quality and camera," Universe tweeted.

The foldable smartphone space is seeing stiff competition from handset makers like Oppo and Tecno which have unveiled their Oppo Find N2 Flip and Tecno Phantom V foldable devices. The latter, interestingly, is the first foldable phone to be unveiled under Rs 1 lakh.

“Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn't settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market,” Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus, had said in a statement. 

It is pertinent to note that foldable smartphone shipments are expected to reach 16 million units worldwide -- an increase of 73 per cent year on year -- as the form factor is rapidly becoming mainstream. Shipments of foldables are expected to grow to 26 million units this year, according to a report by market intelligence firm Counterpoint Research.
