The OnePlus Open was launched in the Indian market and globally at an event in Mumbai a week ago. The device boasts a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 2K displays, as well as powerful specifications, including up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. It has a triple camera setup that includes 48MP+64MP+48MP sensors on the rear. Notably, the OnePlus Open features a more compact form factor compared to rival foldable phones. The maiden foldable from OnePlus is available on sale today (October 27) and prospective buyers can pre-order it through the official OnePlus website, among other channels.


Materials used to build the device include, titanium alloy, carbon fibre, and the phone features aerospace-grade build. The OnePlus Open is also TÜV Rheinland certified for up to 1,000,000 folds, the handset maker had said during the launch. In terms of OS, the phone ships with OxygenOS 13.2. OnePlus says that 95 per cent of mainstream apps are compatible with the extended screen real estate without forcing weird visual adjustments or resizing.

The OnePlus Open features a whopping 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage, and it is available for Rs 1,39,999. Buyers can grab this device starting October 27 from the OnePlus India website, Amazon India website and other major retail outlets.

OnePlus has just unveiled its first foldable smartphone, which is lightweight and has compact design for a foldable. (Here is our first impressions of the OnePlus Open). The device measures 153.4 mm in height when unfolded, with a width of 143.1 mm, which reduces to 73.3 mm when folded. However, the thickness varies slightly based on the colour option: the unfolded Emerald Dusk variant is 5.8 mm thick, while the Voyager Black variant is 5.9 mm thick. When folded, the Emerald Dusk version becomes 11.7 mm thick, and the Voyager Black is slightly thicker at 11.9 mm. The Voyager Black has a vegan leather finish while the Emerald Dusk has a glass rear.

With a price tag of Rs 1,39,000 for the 16GB/512GB model, the OnePlus Open provides a more cost-effective alternative compared to its key rival, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which starts at Rs 1,54,999 for the 12GB/256GB model. The OnePlus Open features a larger battery and faster charging capabilities when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Notably, the OnePlus Open offers more RAM in its lone base model, making it a compelling choice.
