Tipsters Leak OnePlus Open 2 Alleged Renders, Slimmer Design Expected

The leaked renders reveal the OnePlus Open 2 in a sleek black colour with curved rear edges.

The OnePlus Open 2 is anticipated to debut early next year as the successor to 2023's OnePlus Open. While fans await an official announcement, a new leak has revealed details about its design and specifications. The leaked renders showcase a slimmer profile and a larger camera module. The device is also rumoured to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and could come with an IPX8 water resistance rating.

Smartprix, in collaboration with tipsters Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) and Yawn (@chunvn8888), unveiled what may be the first renders of the OnePlus Open 2. The images suggest subtle design tweaks, including a large circular rear camera module reminiscent of the original OnePlus Open. However, the internal camera layout appears to be different, featuring three sensors arranged in the upper semicircle. The Hasselblad branding is placed at the bottom of the module, and the LED flash is positioned in the top-left corner of the back panel.

The leaked renders reveal the OnePlus Open 2 in a sleek black colour with curved rear edges. With a thickness of under 10mm, it could rank among the slimmest foldable smartphones currently available. It is also rumoured to feature an IPX8 rating, offering improved water resistance over the OnePlus Open’s IPX4 rating.

OnePlus Open 2: Specifications (Expected)

The OnePlus Open 2 is speculated to sport an 8-inch LTPO main display with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, it may include a 6.4-inch AMOLED cover screen. Powering the device could be the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and as much as 1TB of internal storage.

For photography, the foldable is rumoured to feature a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. On the front, it may house dual selfie cameras—32 megapixels and 20 megapixels.

The device is expected to pack a 5,900mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging.

Meanwhile, the Oppo Find N5 is anticipated to launch in China by the end of January 2025, with the OnePlus Open 2 likely serving as its global counterpart.
