OnePlus Nord CE 3 Challengers: Redmi Note 12 Pro, Samsung Galaxy F54, More
OnePlus Nord CE 3 price starts at Rs 26,999.
OnePlus took a rabbit out of its Nord-ic hat when it announced the OnePlus Nord CE 3 at its recent Summer Launch event. Almost all the talk leading up to the event had been about the OnePlus Nord 3, which was duly launched. But not many expected the Nord 3 to be accompanied by its 'core experience' (that is what the CE stands for) sibling at the event. The phone will be available in the market from August onwards, but OnePlus has already revealed details of its specs, design and pricing.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Price, Specifications
It might be part of the core experience range which is focused on doing the basics well, but the OnePlus Nord CE 3 comes with some very impressive features. It sports a large 6.7 inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor, which is being acclaimed as a very good mid-segment chip, superior to the highly acclaimed Snapdragon 778G. It also comes with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX 890 main sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), which is the same as the one on the OnePlus flagship, the OnePlus 11. Round that off with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, OnePlus' clean OxygenOS interface and a minimalistic elegant design, and the OnePlus Nord CE 3 seems like a terrific proposition at its starting price of Rs 26,999.
That does not mean that the OnePlus Nord CE 3 will not face competition when it does hit the market in August. Standing in its way will be some very formidable challengers, of which these five are likely to be the toughest:
Redmi Note 12 Pro: A Superb All-Rounder
Price: Rs 23,999
The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus might have grabbed all the headlines with its 200-megapixel camera and 120W fast charging, but its 'plus-less' counterpart is no less formidable. Its 50-megapixel main sensor might not have the megapixels of the 12 Pro Plus, but it is a flagship-level sensor with OIS and delivers some great shots.
You also get a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and very good dual speakers. The phone is powered by the Dimensity 1080 chip, which is a very good mid-segment performer, and the 5000 mAh battery comfortably gets you through almost two days of regular usage. It charges at 67W, which might seem slow compared to the 80/100/120W charging speeds of some of the competitors in the segment, but it still charges the phone in well under an hour, which is more than adequate for most people.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro might look a little plain, but it is a rock-steady all-rounder with no weak points.
It even has a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Realme 11 Pro Plus: The Megapixel Monster
Price: Rs 27,999
Those who love megapixels on their mobiles and do not have a budget that can get too far north of Rs 25,000 would love the Realme 11 Pro Plus. The phone packs in some very good specs but there is no doubt that the star of the phone show is the 200-megapixel main sensor with OIS.
The sensor delivers great image quality and also 4x lossless zoom, making it one of the best phone snappers in its segment. That is not all — the phone also comes with a brilliant 6.7-inch curved (rare at this price point) AMOLED FHD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate. Also on board is a 5,000mAh battery and a 100W charger in the box as well. The MediaTek DImensity 7050 processor driving the phone is a decent mid-segment chip, although not in the class of some of the others mentioned in this list (it is no gaming beast!).
The design of the phone with its large circular camera unit at the centre and vegan leather back is very eye-catching too, but it is the megapixels that make this mobile a monster.
iQoo Neo 7: Super-Charged performer
Price: Rs 28,999
The iQoo Neo range has been making waves in the mid-segment with its blend of sleek design and powerful hardware. The iQoo 7 follows this template with an eye-catching back with a dark spherical camera unit inside a slightly elevated square.
Combined with this stylish appearance is the solidly substantial Dimensity 8200 processor, which makes the phone extremely capable in the gaming department.
A brilliant 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate makes viewing content a great experience, and a very capable 64-megapixel main sensor with OIS allows you to shoot some great footage and snaps yourself, although the accompanying duo of 2-megapixel cameras is of little photographic use. Stereo speakers deliver great sound, making this a great device for gaming and watching videos. The 5000 mAh battery can easily last a day and more of hectic usage and can get charged within half an hour thanks to a 120W charger in the box.
The FunTouch UI might not be to everyone's liking, but this is a terrific deal for those who love multimedia.
Google Pixel 6a: Not Pixellated Yet
Price: Rs 27,999
It was considered a little on the expensive side when it was launched at Rs 43,999 last year, but a hefty price cut has made the Google Pixel 6a one of the best devices you can get for under Rs 30,000, especially if you value pure Android and photography. The Pixel 6a is powered by the same Tensor chip that was seen on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro flagships and remains a very smart and capable processor even today.
As this is a Pixel, you get a very good pair of 12.2 and 12-megapixel cameras on the back, blessed with the magic of Google's computational photography which captures an amazing amount of detail. The 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display has a normal 60 Hz refresh rate but is a very good one in terms of handling colours, and the 4,410mAh battery can easily see off a day or more of usage (although there is no charger in the box).
As with all Pixels, you get assured and timely Android updates, so you will always be up to speed with Android, complete with Google's software smarts. Many will also love the compact form factor, and that iconic camera bar at the back!
Samsung Galaxy F54: Big Display, Big Battery, Big Camera
Price: Rs 27,999
Samsung's F series has been grabbing attention with its accent on performance and great battery life. And with the F54, Samsung has added a very good camera to the F Series mix. The Galaxy F54 comes with a large 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus display with 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by the very capable Exynos 1380 processor.
It has a massive 6,000mAh battery, which delivers two days of usage quite easily, although there is no charger in the box (as with many F series devices). However, the star of the show is perhaps the 108-megapixel main sensor which Samsung has called the "No Shake Camera." It comes with OIS, and features like Astrolapse and Nightography seen in Samsung flagships, although the secondary 8-megapixel ultrawide and 2-megapixel macro cameras seem a little humble in comparison.
Selfies are handled by a very good 32-megapixel front-facing camera and the phone runs on Samsung's feature-rich OneUI on top of Android 13. This is a great device for those wanting a big display, big camera and big battery entertainment.
