iPhone SE 4 Is Not Launching Next Year. Here's Why

Apple is unlikely to release a fourth-generation iPhone SE in 2024. The model may be officially unveiled in 2025.

Quashing some previous leaks and rumours, analysts have said that Apple iPhone SE's launch date has been pushed back again. There have been talks about the fourth iteration of Apple's "affordable" iPhone SE since early last year. However, the new iPhone SE may not be officially unveiled even in 2024, according to Barclays analysts. The analysts have been quoted as saying by MacRumors that a 2024 launch window is unlikely for the iPhone SE 4.

Some reports suggest that the upcoming iPhone SE's hardware has gone through a lot of changes (6.1-in OLED panel instead of LCD, different chassis). The iPhone SE 4's tentative release date was earlier pushed back from 2023 to 2024, and now, it may be released in 2025.

After having "multiple conversations" with companies within Apple's supply chain this week, Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O'Malley believe that Apple is unlikely to release a fourth-generation iPhone SE in 2024, the analysts have told MacRumors.

To recall, earlier in April famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities had said that the mass production of Apple's modem would start only in 2025, thus, suggesting that even iPhone 16 models launching in 2024 will would continue to use Qualcomm modems.

According to a previous report, the tech giant is likely to launch the iPhone SE 4 with its proprietary 5G modem, analyst Jeff Pu had predicted. Apple may launch the iPhone SE 4 in 2025, the report added. iPhone SE 4 may feature the Apple 5G modem which will be manufactured by Taiwan's TSMC. Pu had earlier predicted that Apple may launch the iPhone SE 4 next year, which could be an ideal choice for Apple fans who want to upgrade without spending a bomb.

Apple had released the iPhone SE (2022) in March 2022 with a 4.7-inch LCD display, Touch ID, 5G, a 12-megapixel rear camera, and the A15 Bionic chip. Priced starting at $429 in the U.S., it is one of Apple's more affordable iPhone models. The first-generation and second-generation iPhone SE were released in 2016 and 2020, respectively.
