iPhone 16 Leaks: Display Likely To Be 20% Brighter Than iPhone 15 Pro

The iPhone 16 Pro is rumoured to support up to 1,200 nits of typical brightness when displaying SDR content. It is a 20 per cent increase compared to the 1,000 nits cap on the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Later this year, the iPhone 16 Pro is anticipated to launch as the successor to the iPhone 15 Pro, with potential enhancements to the display and other features, as per a source. While Apple's Pro devices currently offer up to 1,000 nits of brightness, the rumoured iPhone 16 Pro models could provide a 20 per cent boost in brightness for standard dynamic range (SDR) content, alongside slightly larger screens. Additionally, these smartphones are expected to debut with an upgraded processor and a new 'Capture' button.

According to a Weibo post by the source Instant Digital (translated from Chinese), the iPhone 16 Pro is rumoured to support up to 1,200 nits of typical brightness when displaying SDR content. This represents a 20 per cent increase compared to the 1,000 nits cap on the iPhone 15 Pro models. As for HDR content, the peak brightness is said to remain at 1,600 nits, indicating no alterations from the current generation handsets.

iPhone 16 Leaks: What Other Changes Can We Expect

Reports suggest that alongside the increase in brightness, the iPhone 16 Pro models will see changes in display size. Apple is reportedly planning to enlarge the display panels for both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models. Allegedly, the iPhone 16 Pro will sport a 6.27-inch (159.31 mm) display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a larger 6.85-inch (174.06 mm) display.

Recent reports also indicated that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro could launch later this year with larger batteries. However, a tipster mentioned that the iPhone 16 Plus might have a smaller battery compared to the current iPhone 15 Plus.

Other anticipated upgrades for the iPhone 16 Pro models include a faster A18 chip, which is expected to enable on-device generative AI features on Apple's iOS 18 mobile operating system. Additionally, rumours suggest that Apple will introduce a new 'Capture' button on the iPhone 16 series, allowing users to snap photos quickly with a single tap.
