iPhone 15 Production Cut Ahead Of September Launch
Apple iPhone 15: Analyst Jeff Pu underlined two reasons and said that supply chain issues would have an impact on the mass production of the iPhone 15.
Apple is said to have cut the production of iPhone 15 ahead of the expected launch in September. According to leaks and rumours, the tech giant is facing some issues with the mass production of certain components, which may have led to the company cutting the production of the devices. Everything points to the iPhone 15 lineup being officially launched in September, but analyst Jeff Pu has predicted that the Cupertino-based tech giant is already cutting production of the new models, says a report by 9To5Mac.
The tech giant is likely to manufacture 77 million iPhone 15 models by the end of 2023 against previous estimates of around 83 million units, in a note sent to investors, Pu has said. The analyst underlined two reasons and added that supply chain issues would have an impact on the mass production of the iPhone 15. The second reason is, Apple anticipates lower demand for the iPhone 15 line as they would push the price bracket higher than last year's iPhone 14 series.
Pu added that Apple's use of Sony’s camera sensors and new titanium frame for the iPhone 15 Pro models as well as thinner bezels on the display would be the reason for the production delay.
This comes amid Apple iPhone's biggest manufacturer Foxconn's commencement of iPhone 15 production in the Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, in a strategic shift from China. Apple is shifting production dependency from China in the wake of the vulnerability of its supply chain. The ongoing trade tensions between the US and China have also underscored the importance of decentralising production operations for critical products.
Meanwhile, iPhone 15 has surfaced on the Indian regulatory database, BIS certification website ahead of the launch. The Apple device that has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database this week has model number A3094. The model spotted on the BIS database is said to be from the iPhone 15 lineup that is slated to be launched next month. It should be noted that the listing does not provide confirmation of what kind of device it is, but it is said to be an unreleased iPhone model. This development comes a day after reports said that the tech giant has started assembling the iPhone 15 in India.
