iPhone 15 Series Launch To Be Delayed This Year

Apple typically launches its new iPhone lineup in September every year. Last year's iPhone 14 series was announced on September 7.

The launch of the upcoming iPhone 15 line could be delayed until October, according to an analyst with Bank of America (BoA). The global securities analyst with BoA named Wamsi Mohan has said that the official unveiling of the iPhone 15 series could be delayed by a "few weeks" which means we would not see the iPhone 15 series launch in September. Mohan, in a research note shared with Barrons mentioned that the launch could take place in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023, as spotted by MacRumors.

The report added that the BoA analyst expects sales of 48 million iPhone units in the September quarter, which is short of the Street consensus forecast of 51 million. The analyst did not mention the reason behind the delay in the launch of the iPhone 15 lineup, though. Apple typically launches its new iPhone lineup in September every year. Last year's iPhone 14 series was announced on September 7 and the standard iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models went on sale on September 16. It was only the iPhone 14 Plus that did not go on sale until October 7 in the wake of production constraints caused by Covid-induced lockdowns in China at Apple's manufacturing sites.

A recent leak suggests that the iPhone 15 series may get a new pink colour model. According to reliable Apple tipster ShrimpApplePro, a leak from Chinese social media site Weibo has surfaced that reveals new colour options for the upcoming Apple iPhone 15 lineup. The three new colours that the iPhone 15 lineup is likely to get include, green, light yellow and pink. earlier, a leak suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro is likely to be unveiled in a new crimson colour which could be lighter than the existing purple colour of the iPhone 14 Pro.

The iPhone 15 lineup is likely to enter mass production next month, according to famed Apple analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Tech Research. In a big change, this year's iPhone Pro Max model will be different from last year's iteration and may come with a new periscope zoom lens that would be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max only. This means that the iPhone 15 Pro Max would have the best camera system among all the iPhone 15 series models, says a previous report by 9to5Mac.

Apple has traditionally followed a trend where the Pro and Pro Max models have been spec-for-spec identical except for the screen size and battery size.

Meanwhile, Apple's largest and most prominent manufacturing partner Foxconn has recently ramped up hiring at the world's biggest iPhone factory in Zhengzhou province of China, weeks ahead of the launch of the upcoming iPhone 15. Apple is likely to unveil the iPhone 15 series this fall.
