New Apple iPad Pro, iPad Air With Big Changes Launching In May Ahead Of WWDC 2024

The upcoming release will focus on updated versions of the Apple iPad Pro and iPad Air.

Apple Inc.'s overseas suppliers have increased production of the company's much-anticipated new iPad models, with a launch slated for early May, says a report by news agency Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the situation. The upcoming release will focus on updated versions of the Apple iPad Pro and Apple iPad Air, the sources added, requesting anonymity as the plans have not been made public.

Big Changes Coming To iPad 2024 Lineup?

As previously reported by the news agency, the Apple iPad Pro models are set to get sharper OLED displays, while the iPad Air will introduce a 12.9-inch screen option for the first time.

It is pertinent to note that this update will mark Apple's first revamp of the iPad lineup since 2018.

Notably, earlier this week, the iPhone manufacturer announced it would host its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 from June 10 to June 14. This announcement comes amidst reports of potential artificial intelligence (AI) partnership discussions and speculation about substantial iOS updates being unveiled during the event.

The annual WWDC event will be held at Apple Park from June 10 to June 14. The event will embrace technology to reach people across the globe. Among many other speculations, iPadOS 18 and WatchOS 11 are expected to debut at the event.

Given the increasing demand among consumers for generative artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Apple is poised to place a significant emphasis on AI enhancements in iOS 18. These updates are anticipated to encompass various apps and features, with Apple actively developing extensive language models to enhance in-app functionalities.

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, announced in February the company's substantial investment in artificial intelligence, highlighting its commitment to this area. Cook also mentioned that Apple intends to reveal more details about its ongoing AI initiatives later this year.

There is limited information available regarding the features of watchOS 11. However, according to Bloomberg, it is anticipated to be a relatively minor update. This decision aligns with Apple's strategy, considering the substantial overhaul the Apple Watch received in the previous year, indicating that major new features may not be in the pipeline for 2024.
