The tech giant highlighted a range of India-specific features and improvements, aiming to capture a larger share of the world's second-largest smartphone market. The iOS 18 update leverages Apple Intelligence to deliver a more personalised and intuitive user experience.

iOS 18, the newest update for iPhones, stands out as one of the most feature-rich updates in recent times. It introduces extensive customisation options, letting users to freely organise apps and widgets on their Home Screen. This version also features a major overhaul of the Photos app, described as its most substantial redesign yet. Additionally, iOS 18 includes enhancements like call recording and new text effects in iMessage, improving the overall user experience.

Live Voicemail Transcription In Indian English

iOS 18 brings new capabilities to iPhone users in India, including Live Voicemail Transcription in Indian English. This feature enables users to screen incoming calls by prompting callers to leave a message, which is then transcribed in real-time for convenient reading. Users can choose to answer the call at any time during the voicemail recording. Apple is also introducing Live Caller ID, smart call history search, phone keypad search and enhancements to the dialling experience tailored specifically for Indian users.

Language Search In Indian Languages

This update allows users to search for words using their familiar spellings, even if there are variations within the same language. Supported regional languages include Assamese, Bangla, Devanagari and Gujarati.

Siri Supports 9 More Languages

Extended Language Support: Siri now accommodates 9 additional Indian languages along with Indian English, allowing users to perform tasks such as setting alarms and launching apps using a mix of English and regional languages. Additionally, Siri can now respond in Hindi.

Multilingual Support

iPhone 12 and newer models will soon support phonetic typing using Latin characters in English and up to two additional Indian languages, providing users with a trilingual predictive typing experience. This multilingual keyboard support will be seamlessly integrated throughout the operating system. Users will find it convenient as the keyboard remembers the script used in previous conversations across different language threads, automatically switching as needed. This feature will initially support English, Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu languages.
