HMD Global Hints at Nokia Smartphone Lineup, Multiple Models Found On IMEI Database

As per reports, 17 new Nokia models have been identified on the IMEI website, with model numbers ranging from TA-1603 to TA-1628.

HMD Global has recently revamped its online presence, dropping the Nokia branding across all platforms. The official Nokia website, now redirected to HMD.com, and the @nokiamobile Twitter handle, renamed @HMDglobal, indicate a shift towards exclusive HMD branding. Despite expectations of only HMD-branded products moving forward, a report suggests the discovery of new Nokia-branded smartphones listed on the IMEI website.

According to a GSMChina report, 17 new Nokia models have been identified on the IMEI website, with model numbers ranging from TA-1603 to TA-1628. The report speculates that these models may vary significantly, including potential RAM and storage variants for specific models. Some of these models might even debut at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, scheduled for February 26 to February 29.

Although the report lacks specific details about these alleged smartphones, it confirms the continued use of the Nokia branding. The 10-year deal signed between Nokia and HMD Global in 2016, set to expire in 2026, suggests the likelihood of new Nokia models entering the market until then. While the models spotted on the IMEI database could launch in the near future, possibly within this year, further details are awaited.

HMD To Release Nine New Handsets?

Recently, the IMEI website reportedly listed nine new handsets under the HMD brand. These could represent distinct models or potentially include RAM and/or storage variants of a primary model. A specific HMD model, codenamed N159V, surfaced in a recent leak, featuring a black colour variant and a dual rear camera setup with an LED flash, suggesting it to be a mid-range offering.

Another leak showcased an upcoming HMD smartphone, expected to debut in a blue colour variant. The device revealed a prominent rectangular camera module on the top left corner of the rear panel, housing a 108-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) support. Details about this model remain limited at present.
