Thinking Of Buying Google Pixel Watch 3? It Might Cost You Double The Price If You're Not Careful - Here's How

When Google introduced the Pixel Watch in 2022, it announced that the device would not be eligible for repairs. This policy continued with Watch 2 and remains in place for the Pixel Watch 3.

Google Pixel Watch 3 was released recently by the tech giant at the Made by Google event. It has garnered quite a lot of attention from tech enthusiasts across the globe. If you are thinking of buying it then it might be wise for you to read this article thoroughly and then decide whether it will be the right purchase or not. There is a possibility in which you might end up paying double the price of the Google Pixel Watch 3.

To put it in simpler words, Google has announced that the Google Pixel Watch 3 cannot be repaired if it gets broken. The tech giant has confirmed the lack of hardware service support for the Pixel Watch 3 in the US. In case if your Google Pixel Watch 3 gets broken, then the only solution that you have is to get it replaced (if you have bought the Google Preferred Care Protection plan) or buy a new one.

What Did Google Say?

When Google introduced the first-generation Pixel Watch in 2022, it announced that the device would not be eligible for repairs. This policy continued with the Pixel Watch 2 and remains in place for the newly launched Pixel Watch 3, which is available only as a replacement.

According to a Google spokesperson, the Pixel Watch 3 will not be repaired if damaged, requiring customers to buy a replacement unit instead. However, those enrolled in Google's optional Preferred Care program might have some benefits.

The Preferred Care program, which costs $89 (approximately Rs. 7,500) and is available only in Canada, Japan, the UK, and the US, offers a replacement Pixel Watch 3 for $49 (around Rs. 4,100).

For customers outside these regions, the options for a damaged Pixel Watch 3 are generally limited to purchasing a new watch or seeking repairs from third-party services that are not officially supported.

The Google Pixel Watch 3's 41mm model is priced at Rs 39,900, while the 45mm version is available for Rs 43,900.

Google Pixel Watch 3: Specifications

The new Pixel Watch 3, unlike its earlier versions, comes in two display sizes: 41mm and 45mm. This year, Google has equipped the smartwatch with an Actua display, which boasts a peak brightness of 2,000 nits—twice as bright as the AMOLED screen on the Pixel Watch 2.

The Pixel Watch 3 now tracks additional fitness metrics, such as cadence, stride length, and vertical oscillation. It also introduces new features like readiness and cardio load tracking. Fitbit users will benefit from a "Morning Brief" summary, which highlights overnight health data collected by the watch.

However, the Pixel Watch 3 maintains the same battery life as its predecessor. It offers up to 24 hours of use with the always-on display mode active, and up to 36 hours with battery saver mode. This year, Google has added support for 20 per cent faster charging, but this enhancement is available only for the 41mm model. The larger 45mm version retains the same charging speed as the previous year's model.
