Google I/O 2023: Pixel Tablet Now Official, Priced At $499. Check Specifications, Features

Google I/O event on Wednesday saw the launches of several products and services, including the likes of Google Pixel 7a, Google Pixel Fold, Bard AI, and Android 14. Alongside, the Mountain View tech giant officially launched the much-awaited Google Pixel Tab, which was first teased by the company at its 2022 developer’s conference. Powered by Google’s new Tensor G2 SoC and the Titan M2 security chip, the Pixel Tablet is up for pre-orders in select countries starting today.
Google Pixel Tablet Price, Availability
The new Pixel Tablet is priced at $499 (roughly Rs 40,900). It is available for pre-order starting today in Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK, and the US via Google Store and other retailers. It will hit the shelves on June 20.
Google Pixel Tablet comes in three colourways — Porcelain, Hazel, and Rose. It also comes bundled with a special Charging Speaker dock.
Google Pixel Tablet Specifications, Features
The Pixel Tablet is targeted at smart home hub customers, as made apparent by the Charging Speaker dock, which not only promises a punchy bass and a “room-filling sound,” but also helps the tablet connect seamlessly to your smart home accessories. It also offers hands-free control, thanks to Google Assistant, and can also turn into a digital photo frame.
Google has also added an inbuilt Chromecast, which allows the Pixel Tablet to stream music or videos from your phone when in Hub mode (connected to the dock).
In terms of display, the Pixel Tablet sports an 11-inch screen, supported by four inbuilt speakers for portable entertainment needs. The rear panel is made of aluminium with a nanoceramic coating.
Apart from the presence of the Tensor G2 and Titan M2, the Pixel Tablet also boasts 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB.
The Pixel Tablet’s battery can provide video streaming of up to 12 hours on a single charge. In case the dock isn’t around, you can use the tablet’s USB-C port for wired charging.
Notably, Google Pixel Tablet doesn’t come with 5G or LTE connectivity. It only supports Wi-Fi connectivity, highlighting the smart home usage feature even more.
In terms of optics, Google Pixel Tablet comes with an 8-megapixel rear snapper and another 8-megapixel video calling camera at the front.
The tablet also features a fingerprint scanner on the sleep button. The Pixel Tablet will run Android 13 out-of-the-box, with an update for Android 14 expected later this year.
