Google Pixel Fold 2 Early Render Surfaces, Reveals Narrower Design, Aluminium Frame
A lone hands-on image of what is claimed to be the Pixel Fold 2, has emerged, which reveals a slim cover display, noticeably smaller than the 5.8-inch one found on the original Pixel Fold.
Last year, Google made its debut in the foldable market with the Pixel Fold. Launched at the annual Google I/O 2023 event in May, this book-style foldable phone is powered by the company's in-house Tensor G2 chipset. Now, anticipation for the Pixel Fold 2 is growing, with early renders surfacing online showcasing a slimmer form factor and a revamped camera module reminiscent of OnePlus Open's design. Speculations suggest that the Pixel Fold 2 will feature the Tensor G4 chipset.
According to a report by Android Authority, a lone hands-on image of what is claimed to be the Pixel Fold 2, has emerged. The image reveals a slim cover display, noticeably smaller than the 5.8-inch one found on the original Pixel Fold launched last year. Reports suggest that the inner screen's aspect ratio leans towards a square shape, resulting in a form factor reminiscent of the OnePlus Open.

The publication got only one "blurry and heavily censored" image of the Pixel Fold 2, but mentioned that Google's upcoming foldable phone features a narrower cover screen. According to the source, cited in the report, not only is the cover screen narrower, but the inner screen's aspect ratio also leans towards a square shape. This implies that the Pixel Fold 2's overall design could resemble that of the OnePlus Open, which falls between the Pixel Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 in terms of display size.
The reports also suggests that the Pixel Fold 2 will feature an aluminum frame and a prominent crease. It is also said to sport a hole-punch cutout in the top right corner of the inner screen to accommodate the selfie camera, diverging from the first-generation Pixel Fold, which concealed its inner screen camera within the top bezel.

Meanwhile, in the first feature drop of 2024, Google has introduced the Circle to Search feature for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro devices. Despite the lack of an official statement regarding its availability on other Android devices, industry observers anticipate a broader rollout by the end of this year. The feature is expected to gradually extend to older Pixel devices and select smartphones from Samsung's S-series and Z-series before becoming accessible on devices from other brands.
