Google Pixel 9 Gets LTPO Panel In India, Malaysia, Others
Google's recent annual Made by Google event witnessed the launch of the highly anticipated Pixel 9 series.
Google's recent annual Made by Google event witnessed the launch of the highly anticipated Pixel 9 series. The lineup includes the standard Pixel 9, featuring an Actua OLED display, while the premium Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL boast LTPO Super Actua screens. Shortly after the launch, a listing on the official Pixel support page raised eyebrows. The page suggested that display quality and connectivity features for Pixel 9 models might vary across different markets. Most notably, the Indian variants of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL were initially listed with non-LTPO displays.
GSMArena first reported this discrepancy, noting that the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL models destined for India, Malaysia, and Singapore were listed with different display specifications compared to their global counterparts. These regional variants were allegedly showcased with an Actua Display instead of the more advanced Super Actua Display (LTPO) technology.
Google Confirms Same Display Globally
In a response to the growing confusion, Google has since updated the Pixel support page. At the time of this report, the display type for Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL models in India, Malaysia, and Singapore has been revised to match the global specification of Super Actua display. This correction ensures that consumers in these markets can expect the same cutting edge display technology advertised for the Pixel 9 Pro series worldwide.
As the Pixel 9 series hits stores worldwide, consumers can now be assured of a consistent experience across all markets, featuring the latest in Google's display innovation.
On August 13, Google officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphones -- the Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, and its first foldable phone in India, setting a new benchmark in the competitive smartphone market. This release came ahead of the usual schedule, and with heightened expectations, as last year's Pixel 8 series got critical acclaim. Google has introduced a refreshed design, an advanced processor, cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and a choice of two screen sizes to cater to diverse users, with the new Pixel 9 lineup.
