Dyson Airstrait Straightener, Which Uses Air To Straighten Hair, Launched In India

Unlike conventional straighteners from brands such as Philips that use hot plates to straighten hair, the Dyson Airstrait employs high-pressure air blades to dry and straighten hair at the same time.

Dyson has launched the Dyson Airstrait straightener in the Indian market. The company's latest addition to its linup of hair care devices claims to offer a distinctive straightening experience by using air instead of conventional hot plates, thus, aiming to minimise damage to the hair. According to Dyson, the Airstrait straightener is especially tailored for different Indian hair types, which will let users get a naturally straight look while preserving the hair's strength and health. Unlike conventional straighteners from brands such as Philips that use hot plates to straighten hair, the Airstrait employs high-pressure air blades to dry and straighten hair at the same time.

The device features two arms that create a precisely angled air blade, directing airflow downward and into the hair to dry and straighten it simultaneously.

Dyson Airstrait Specifications And Features

This hair styling device offers a range of customisable options to cater to various hair needs and styling preferences. It features three primary modes: 'Wet', 'Dry', and 'Cool'.

The 'Wet' mode, designed for damp hair, offers three heat settings (80°C, 100°C, and 115°C), while the 'Dry' mode offers two heat options (100°C and 115°C) plus an intense 130°C "boost" setting for stubborn areas. The 'Cool' mode helps set styles and add shine. Each mode comes pre-configured with optimal heat and airflow combinations for best results. Users can further personalise their styling experience with two airflow speeds, a cold shot feature and a specialised root drying mode.

Equipped with glass bead thermistors, the device measures the airflow temperature up to 16 times per second to maintain the optimal range and prevent heat damage, thus, preserving the hair's natural shine. This information is processed to adjust the heating element, ensuring the airflow remains within the required temperature limits. "It took the company six years to build the product from a concept, for end consumers," Steve Williamson, Dyson's beauty category manager, said.

The hair straightener also makes use of precision air jets along its arms to generate high-velocity downward blades of air that converge into a focused jet. This targeted airflow helps align hair strands, resulting in a smooth and natural-looking finish.
