Apple WWDC 2022: New MacBook Air With M2 Chip Announced, Said To Be 40 Percent Faster

MacBook Air comes with a 13.6-inch liquid retina display.

Apple has announced its newest version of the MacBook Air, powered by an M2 chip. Compatible with MagSafe, the MacBook Air comes in four new colour options. The new MacBook Air sports a new 1080p HD camera for video calls. Apple claims that the new MacBook Air is 40 percent faster than the previous MacBook Air model. The new model comes with a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display. It still features Touch ID for biometric authentication, just like the previous generation.

WWDC 2022: MacBook Air price in India, availability

The new MacBook Air (8GB RAM + 256GB SSD storage model) is priced at Rs 1,19,000. The 8GB + 512GB storage model, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 1,49,900. Both models will be available via Apple Authorised resellers in India starting July.

The MacBook Air will be offered in four colour options — Silver, Space Grey, Starlight Gold, and Midnight Blue.

WWDC 2022: MacBook Air specifications

The Cupertino company introduced its new in-house chip, M2, at the WWDC 2022 keynote address. It announced that the first Mac models to use the new M2 will be the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

As mentioned earlier, the new MacBook Air features a 13.6-inch display with noticeably smaller bezels and 500 nits of peak brightness. It sports a 1080p HD webcam for FaceTime and other video chats. The new notebook also comes with Dolby Atmos audio support.

The new MacBook Air supports MagSafe charging and sports two Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack.

There will be a new power adapted bundled in the box, with two USB-C ports. It can charge up the MacBook Air up to 80 percent in 20 minutes.

The new MacBook Air has a thickness of just 11mm and weighs nearly 1.3kg.
