WWDC 2022: These iPhone Models Won't Be Getting iOS 16

The first-ever iPhone SE may stop getting software support soon.

Apple kicked off its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a plethora of software and hardware announcements during its keynote address on June 6. These include a new M2 chip, which will power the newly announced MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The Cupertino tech giant also announced its latest OS versions — iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS Ventura. While iOS 16 brings a major facelift to the platform, along with several locksreen features, Apple did hint at some older iPhone models that will stop getting software update support soon.

At WWDC 2022, Apple announced that the iOS 16 will only be supported on iPhone 8 and later. This means that the older iPhone models will more or less stop getting support for software updates. These include iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and the original iPhone SE.
